"Help! I am so busy and have no time!"

by - Sunday, November 26, 2017

Hey loves! Since I have never been so busy in my life, I thought it would be a good idea to encourage you on time management. First of all, if you find yourself really busy, it is not a bad thing especially if you are keeping busy with what God has called you to do. It is the most fulfilling thing to be walking in the will of God and the safest place. It brings unexplainable joy that you can freely extend to others.

Ephesians 5:15-16 15 Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.

The first thing I want to challenge you with is this, are you making best use of your time? If not, what are the things/people you need to cut out?

My full time job keeps me busy. I am also studying at the same time, which is an added pressure. Outside of that, I serve at 3 teams in my Church, run my You Tube channel consistently, have my business and maintain my relationships with others. I find that being a busy person highlights what is important and gives me more of a reason to constantly assess the useful things in life, throwing away what I believe is a waste of time.

People make time for what is important! I do not attend many social events because at this stage in my life, I have to prioritise. But people/things that I make time for are important to me! When people tell me that they were too busy to contact me, I know this is not necessarily true because how many minutes does it take to send a text? I think the reality is, that person did not see contacting me as a priority. Yes, we all get overwhelmed and also may be going through life’s challenges that may cause us to isolate ourselves from others. But remember, a true friend sticks closer than a brother (Proverbs 18:24).

 Plan ahead!
A planner/diary/to do list is so key to ensure that you keep up on things and do not forget anything important.

Make prayer/Jesus time a priority.

At this time of being so busy, the enemy will try and attack you in all areas. Focus on the word of God and you cannot go wrong. I speak about ways of spending time with God here

Accept when friendships die.

In your busy season focus on the right things, allow God to move you from one season to the next and stop holding onto dead friendships.

Be productive.

Sometimes you cannot attend that party or gathering that you were invited to. Its ok! You are at a stage where you need to build the foundation for your future. Those that love you will understand.

Keep positive influences around you.

I am thankful that I have had some positive individuals around me at this stage in my life that have been understanding and offered great advice. In general, it is important for people to pour into you positively always ready to lift you up in prayer.

The principle of now.

Are you a procrastinator? How about you challenge yourself to do things as soon as possible. I know this is not always the case, but how about starting somewhere and getting used to this principle. I assure you, it will take you far!

Respect people’s time!

Being on time is so key to me. In my culture, time is not something that is taken seriously. But when you know who you are and that you are called to do something great for the glory of God, you value time and see that you have no time to waste! Extend that to others and be on time!

Look after yourself!

Sleeping enough, exercising and eating well are all things that will affect your energy levels. It does not make sense to constantly fill yourself with junk and expect to have energy to do what God has called you to do. Drink water, eat colourful veggies and drink more water. Wellbeing is so key.

I know it is not easy not having time to do what you want. It can get pretty rough. But speak onto yourself positive words of motivation, because what you believe about yourself is what you will be. Be your own cheerleader and do not wait for others to do this for you. God is on your side and will see you through!

Structure your time!

No longer should you feel that doing certain things is impossible. You may have to sacrifice an hour of sleep, but this is what sets you apart from the person who is not willing to wake up a bit earlier to build their successful future! For example, you can divide an hour up to doing 15 minutes of four different tasks. You may not finish them in one day but if you do this for a week, you may!
E.g. 15 minutes to read Proverbs 1, 15 minutes to write a blog post, 15 minutes to edit a video and 15 minutes to speak with a friend.

I do pray that this encourages you. Just remember that this is not forever, you are building your foundation for your future and what a beautiful thing to be walking in the will of God. If you find yourself lost and unsure of what God has called you to do, learn to trust Him and be patient for His response. Call out to Him and He will never let you down. Through people, situations etc, God will reveal all to you. He is faithful!
