The Power of Worship
I believe that worship is a life changing experience that opens our
hearts and reminds us of the glory of God. In a worship moment, I am reminded
of who Jesus is to me and how much I love Him.
Changing my previous Church last year has taught me to worship more
expressively. There is something very meaningful about being in the presence of
the Holy Spirit and worshiping God in a room full mostly of strangers as one
body, as God intended. A moment where the focus is genuinely on God and how
Holy, perfect, blameless, faithful, true (and the list goes on!) He really is!
The powerful thing about worship is that it has a consistent result
of reverencing God. It depends on our state of mind of course, but when we
focus on Him, it makes a difference.
Psalm 100
1 Shout for joy to the Lord, all the
earth.
2
Worship the Lord with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
3 Know that the Lord is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
5 For
the Lord is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all
generations.
Philippians 4
4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again:
Rejoice! 5 Let your
gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation,
by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which
transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ
Jesus.
My Church had a whole service of Praise and Worship
yesterday and it was seriously uplifting. My encouragement to you is that we do
not make it only a Sunday thing but continue to do it through our working week.
I like to do my exercise in the morning, so that upon return from work, I can
get quiet before the Lord. Worship music helps, for me to shake off my day and
anything that is bothering me so that the focus can be on God.
Here are a few lyrics that touch me:
Love came
like madness, poured out in blood washed romance. And it makes no sense but
this is grace and I know you’re with me in this place.
Faith makes
a fool of what makes sense, but grace found my heart where logic ends, when
justice called for all my debts, the friend of sinners came instead – Hillsong:
Here Now (Madness).
Holy Spirit
you are welcome here, come flood this place and fill the atmosphere, your glory
God is what our hearts long for to be overcome by your presence Lord - Francesca Battistelli – Holy Spirit
Your presence is heaven to me - Israel Houghton - Your
Presence Is Heaven
Jesus I need you, every moment I need you – Hillsong –
Jesus I need you
Understand that
there is power and spiritual warfare in the act of worship. Lifting our hands,
kneeling down and singing shows that we believe and are victorious. Worship
brings truth and healing. Practice this and rest in His truth and peace. Amen!
