Halfway Through The Year, What Goals?

by - Sunday, August 21, 2016

So we have just crossed over into the second half of the year. How do you feel? Are you gutted because you feel like you haven’t even scratched the surface when it comes to your goals? I know the feeling girl! Lets talk about it..

My goal was to grow spiritually like never before. It was the year that I was tested like crazy and failed many times! I realised how difficult following Christ is. But one thing I am happy about is that I never gave up on my relationship with Jesus. I realised why I begun this journey and the clear message is that there is no turning back.

My lovely sister in Christ Daukoru, of Create With Words told us to write down out goals at the beginning of the year (pictured above). She told us that she would post it to us at the end of the year but then decided that she would post it halfway through the year, to give us a chance to reflect and work on how we will accomplish our goals.

I think I could have done so much better, but I have learnt not to beat myself up about my mistakes. I think that can hold us back even more and can be so dangerous that we can backslide into the world. This is because we will focus on ourselves and how much we have failed instead of focusing on His glory and believing in Him to save us from ourselves. We will never be worthy or good enough in the flesh, but He will help us if we believe. Because it is not by our strength, but His alone!

We really have to think about the whys. I set my goal because a personal relationship with Jesus is the most important thing to me ever. I know that it is what I need to get by and I realise that Jesus is the only real thing that I have. Without Him I am nothing.

In making this bold statement, I hope you know that you will lose the things that make you comfortable. In my family, only two of us are practising, while the others pretty much dropped off. It was discouraging, but I knew that this is to be expected.

Luke 9:60 Jesus said to him, "Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and proclaim the kingdom of God."

I know that I am doing this for God and no one else, so if those around me walk away from Jesus, it is in that time that I have to stand firm and fight harder.

I have learnt that it does not matter how many times you fall, you have to be disciplined enough to pick yourself up and get back at His feet. It is not about the mistake you made, but what you are going to do with it. It is not about what you turn from, but what you turn to.

Acts 3:19  Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.

Keep going back to that place of repentance and do not give up!
