The Comfortable Christian

by - Sunday, June 05, 2016

It has been ages since we had a chat and I have missed doing so. So lets go! I hope to encourage and inspire you to allow God to take you to the next level.

At the beginning of the year I prayed for spiritual growth like never before. But I guess we as people just become comfortable and often take things for granted. Lately I feel that I have become comfortable and stalling to get on the next level of spiritual maturity because of laziness. I know what I need to do but hold back.

You know, sometimes I find myself hiding from the love of God. Sounds weird but, I know I am not the only one. If I become comfortable and set in my ways; not allowing God to take me to a higher level, that is a form of hiding from His love. He loves and wants the best for His children and I. His love often overwhelms me, I cannot believe how truly loved, known and accepted I am by Him!

Psalm 136:26 Give thanks to the God of heaven, for his steadfast love endures forever.

It is not easy on this Christian walk. I will not pretend that it is. It has been a journey of ups and downs but through it all, Jesus is so faithful. What keeps me going is that there is hope and more than what is seen. Let us try and be Kingdom Minded.

2 Corinthians 4:18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

So what has helped me to allow God to push me to the next level, is focus on Proverbs 3:5-6. What is significant to me is that we should acknowledge God in all our ways. Not some, not when we feel like it but all! Hallelujah.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

It reminds me what my focus should be on and that all the distractions of this world are null and void. Easier said than done huh? I feel like we as Christians pray against out tests, instead of embracing and asking for God’s will to be done, through the tough times.

I pray for us all, that we change our perspective on this and let God do a new thing in us. May we be open to uncomfortable challenges for His glory. Be honest with yourself and open your heart to God, let Him change your heart and make it more like His. The first step to take is to pray about it, believe me He will do a work in you. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. I pray that you will reflect on this with spiritual eyes, mind and heart.

God bless you all.
