Do numbers really matter? Popularity or Jesus?

I ask myself this any time my mind wanders and I wonder how The Modest Life will grow. After all, my focus should always be Jesus and spreading his word; all of Him and none of me. This is such a Matthew 6:33 moment:

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

At a time where popularity is in online, likes and follows can often give people validity and status. But once we know who we are in Christ, there is a difference. We no longer seek approval for ourselves but rather, our aim is to tell people about the King that we serve.

A few years ago on my YouTube channel, I became discouraged to do videos about Jesus because compared to my hair videos I noticed that they did not get as many views or likes! I did not do them as much until I started to grow in Christ and discovered a new found passion for spreading His word and caring about people’s salvation. I think it is amazing how we can use the modern day internet to talk about things we have in common, so since my faith in God is the foundation of my life I feel it is something that I should share.

The thing is, we never know what someone is going through, so just be obedient and spread the good news! Just because your scripture post on Instagram does not have as many likes as your outfit of the day, it does not mean that it did not encourage or convict someone today! Let us stop being like the world and just allow the Holy Spirit to do a work in us.

Continue to boldly share what God placed on your heart. Please do not keep it to yourself, as we all have a common calling to spread the truth [Matthew 28:19]. The world always posts about their interests, lets post about our saviour.

You have no idea who is watching. Many people tell you that they do not believe in anything, but because God used your personality to share His good news, they may have caught the message at a different angle of understanding. Those you least expect may be reading your blog.

Why not start your own blog or YouTube channel? There is so much to be said about our Jesus. You could share your testimony or teach the Bible to encourage your brothers and sisters. Why not? As long as your heart is in the right place and you are doing it for Jesus, continue to be encouraged.
