Spiritual Growth in 2016

Happy New Year Beauties!! I am so glad you are here reading this and I pray that you continue to grow in the body of Christ. I am excited to see how God will use us this year for His kingdom!!

I am not sure what kind of year 2015 was for you but be encouraged. Bare in mind to rejoice in the Lord always [Philippians 4:4] though matter the situation, just know that Jesus loves you and that He knows best. Sometimes we go through situations to grow, learn and actually, to turn a bad situation on it’s head – I think there is learning and growth every step that we take. What I mean is, we do not stop learning and I pray that you allow God to pour into your life.

John 14:25-26
25 “All this I have spoken while still with you. 26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

I pray that you allow the Holy Spirit to guide your life. As you can see above, the Holy Spirit is our helper sent by Jesus to guide and enrich our lives. Once you accept Jesus as your Lord and saviour, the Holy Spirit begins to dwell inside of you. The Holy Spirit is all about growth and development. Jesus wants us to grow and reach goals in Him. So basically, it is not about us and our selfish desires, but about how we can serve Him and His people around us.

When was the last time you invited someone to Church or discipled someone? We all have a common purpose and that is to spread the word of God. This is not to point the finger, but to put things into perspective and remind you that you have a part to play in the body of Christ!

Mark 16:15
15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.

There is a lot of talk about New Years Resolutions and goal setting. But can we get to a place of continuum, where each year/day we are hungry to grow in Christ? Seek Him first and everything else you need, will be added [Matthew 6:33]. My goal this year is definitely to grow spiritually and to do more. I see last year as laying the foundation and this year to build on it, amen!

A few steps that I will be taking to allow Spiritual growth:

- Spend more time praying. Prayer is so important and often overlooked. It is our direct communication with the Lord and it gives us strength. I do not want to pray religiously just to say that I have ticked it off my list for the day, but pray with intention not only for my growth but for those around me.

Philippians 4:6-7

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

-       Continue with fellowship. Fellowship just means to spend time with people in Christ. This is another powerful one and in this day and age, people feel that they can do it alone or isolate themselves based on past hurts. The truth is that God created us to be social beings and teaches us to encourage one another. He gets it! And understands that it is not easy. There is beauty in doing life together and supporting one another.

Hebrews 3:13
But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called "Today," so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness.

-      Continue with bible study and do it at any and every opportunity! Do you know that you could meet up with a friend and do a bible study! The bible is our book of life and is so encouraging to us. Know that the word of God is Spiritual, living and powerful. I did a post on Create With Words blog, check out the series that she did on that topic.

Please share below how you will allow yourself to grow in Christ this year. Please continue to be encouraged and may God continue to bless you x
