The Holy Spirit

Lately I have been studying on The Holy Spirit and how he graciously leads us in life. This is such an important reality that I have taken for granted. But I praise God for Spiritual Growth! So, I pray that whoever reads this is blessed in Jesus name. Let The Holy Spirit take control!

So how does one receive the Holy Spirit?

[Acts 2:38] Then Peter said to them, “Repent and let every one of you be baptised in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the Holy Spirit.”

So Acts 2:38 is pretty self explanatory; turning away from your old selves and repenting is very major in receiving the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit Leads:

[Acts 16:6] Now when they had gone through Phrygia and the region of Galatia, they were forbidden by the Holy Spirit to preach the word in Asia. [NKJV]

Acts 16:6 demonstrates that the Holy Spirit leads us. Through Jesus, The Holy Spirit gives us on the spot guidance! There are many things that are not explicit in the Bible. An example of this is taking drugs. It may not say, “Do not take drugs” but it is very clear from when the word says that our bodies are temples [1 Corinthians 6:19]. Something that will not edify our bodies in any way should not be taken. In addition to this, we are blessed with the Holy Spirit to know right from wrong.

Another example is music. The bible may not say, “Do not listen to bad lyrics or music that degrades women/men” but it does say to associate yourself with good things [Philippians 4:8] and sing and make music to the Lord [Ephesians 5:19]. The Holy Spirit will definitely lead you in all areas. If that thing does not bear good fruit, trust that God will be with you when you get rid of it.

The Same Spirit That Raised Jesus From The Dead!!

[Romans 8:11] But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from he dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. I always feel empowered when I read this. The SAME Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead dwells in me? WOW! Do you know how special that is! That alone makes me feel blessed.

Once we understand that our flesh and the Spirit want two different things, we will understand that it is an on-going Spiritual warfare. We cannot do it without The Holy Spirit. Jesus told us that he will send us a helper, that will be with us forever [John 14:16]. He understands that the flesh is weak and knows only too well that backsliding is a reality.

There are many things that I used to do that I thought I could not stop doing (i.e. fornication), but chains were seriously broken when I decided to follow Jesus and stop turning back. Many people think that they can do it alone with simply knowing ABOUT Jesus and following Religion. But that only leads to them walking around as dry bones, with no Holy Spirit to refresh them.

Our growth in the Holy Spirit comes with us spending time at Jesus’s feet. We have to make time each day to be still and let Him speak to us and guide us. Many people do not know the next step to take and are often anxious about the worries of life. But the Holy Spirit reveals all.

[1 Corinthians 2:10] But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit, for the spirit searches all things, yes the deep things of God.

Do you want to get to know Jesus on a deeper level? It is definitely worth it. You will be warned about things before they even happen and prompted about Jesus like/demonic spirits around you.

Children of God Love His Word and Hate Sin

[John 4:24] God is Spirit, and those that worship Him must worship in Spirit and in truth.

God is Spirit, which is why He is accessible by all at the same time. I could be crying out to Him over here and you could be praising Him over there while we are both being acknowledged by Him with His full attention, Amen!

This is why personal relationship with Jesus is key. It is not about religion (behaviour modification to look good), but rather it is about heart transformation, which starts with the dwelling of the Holy Spirit in us. It is a lifetime journey but once we understand this, we can hunger towards Jesus with the promise of eternal life.

You no longer need religion (the law), when you are being led by the Holy Spirit, without a doubt He will lead you and show you right from wrong. Many times my flesh has wanted to break out in anger or say things. I’m not saying I do not get angry but I am able to control myself with the help of the Holy Spirit.

If you need clarification on His word pray and ask Him to show you. You may not get an answer straight away, you may be tested for patience but just have faith. His response may not be audible – He speaks through people/situations and He always confirms His word. His word never returns void. Trust Him today and I pray that the Holy Spirit washes over your life.

I will leave you with the below video which could not have come at a better time, see how the Holy Spirit works? We in the body of Christ all work together spiritually for His good!! The video discusses in depth about the Holy Spirit. God bless x
