Encouraging One Another In The Body Of Christ

by - Sunday, April 19, 2015

Hey all. I hope you are well in Jesus name! I wanted to stress the importance of encouragement in the body of Christ – we are all brothers and sisters but since I am a woman of God I will use sisterhood as an example.

Since starting and joining other Pinky Promise groups life has never been the same, it has been a real game changer!! My East London group that God led me to start is small and intimate and I love the way we are all ready to encourage one another. It does not have to be a Pinky Promise group, but any group that you join for Christ that is edifying should produce the same results.

It dawned upon me that as Christian women, we all experience similar things in life. It is only when you start talking that you realise this. Instead of making others feel like they are alone, I encourage you all (including myself) to be relatable to others, honest about your problems and complimentary. I am not saying tell people your life story, but there is just something special about saying things that you have overcome/currently battling and not caring about what people think.

James 5:16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

Women are so different to men, special yet different. It is important to come together in this world where there is so much division and one woman at a time stand strong because united we stand. There is something so special and unique about having individuals around that just get it. No side eye looks because they know what it is like to be in a battle with the world and all its expectations.

Support each other, be honest and compliment one another. All these things are edifying. You never know what someone may be going through. I believe that women of the world have a tendency to be jealous or back biting at times, but this is a reflection on how they feel about themselves. When we know who we are in Christ, it does not take anything away from us to be nice or polite.  We understand how important it is to play our God given part in the body of Christ, because we do not know who we are helping. But that love we have for one another gives us the urgency to be ready to help in any way.

If you see your sister going left instead of right, tell her. We have a right to have a righteous judgement, that does not involve hypocrisy. If we know that we are living better than we used to ourselves and want to see our sister improve then why not tell her. As for me, I am an honest person and would love the same back.

Matthew 7:1 “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

-This refers to avoiding putting others down to raise ones self.

Matthew 7:3 Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

- This refers to seeing clearly to be able to lead others.

I have had my fair share of fake friendships and jealous females in my life. There is something special about being around others that just understand. This does not mean that these friendships will be perfect. But we are halfway there once we know Christ. In Christ we can build positive friendships and with the strength of God we can excel. The devil is a liar – let us uplift one another so that we can all be great.

Be blessed in Jesus name!
