Be Encouraged To Shine Your Christian Light
Ephesians
6:19-20 [NIV]
19 Pray
also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will
fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am
an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.
If you think about it, the world is not quiet
about beliefs, ways of life, being a slave to sin and the things that they do.
So if God tells you to do something, obey and do it. You never know what is on
the other side of your obedience.
I will give you an example…
I did the first meeting for Pinky Promise East
London, which is a Christian group of women coined by Heather Lindsey. A
promise to honour God with our lives and our bodies underpins what we do. I was
SO CLOSE to cancelling it because it looked like only one person would show up.
But the Holy Spirit spoke to me, “Just
try it, at least you know that you tried”. All of a sudden, the individual
that said she could not come could suddenly could. It was a fulfilling meeting
that edified me. The devil/enemy wants us to fail, but as long as we keep Jesus
at the forefront of our agendas we cannot go wrong.
I urge you to develop a personal relationship
with our Lord and saviour. As Christians we must learn how to deny ourselves.
Not just for Lent or the weeks leading up to Easter but all year round. Let us
be the humble shining examples of what Jesus wants us to be, that without even
opening out mouths people can see our Faith written all over us.
“From the tips of my toes, to the top of my head,
they’re going to know I love you”
Yes! Because we serve an almighty God. Knower
of all things, healer of all our problems. I urge you to trust Him. It is in
spending time with His most Holy word and praying that your Faith will develop.
He has brought you this far, do not give up hope!!!
I love the way God always provides a shining
light of Christian hope and guidance wherever we are. Not that we should rely
on individuals in life, but when we seek God first, He gives us ALL we need. At
work I was feeling a little discouraged as I would have liked someone to
fellowship with. When others are always talking about worldly issues, I would
have liked to talk about Jesus! Then all of a sudden I was having a deep
conversation about God! And I was not even the one that brought it up! It was
amazing because the person asked me whether I go to Church. When I said yes
they said that they just knew there was something about me that was spiritually
connected to God. They just understood issues without me saying much and touched on exactly what I
was thinking about how hard it is to make Disciples.
I also think it is important not to shut
ourselves off completely from people because they are not Christians. We can only have a
positive effect on people if we approach them lovingly. Plant the seed and move
on. I enjoy talking to people from all walks of life. What you need to be
careful of is mixing/being yoked with people that are trying to lead you astray
from your Christian walk. After all, light has no relationship with darkness.
2
Corinthians 6:14
Do not be yoked together with
unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what
fellowship can light have with darkness?
Do not get close to unbelievers but be sure to plant the seed. This does
not mean that we cannot love all people but we must be careful who we get close
to and let in our lives. Because they do not believe - the devil can lead them to
destruction. So be encouraged in Christ and do not give up on His love. Follow
Him and you will be surprised that you will want for nothing.
But seek first his kingdom and his
righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
God bless you all. Shine that beautiful light
that Jesus gave you through the Holy Spirit.
