Be Free From People Bondage

11 Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you [Matthew 5:11-12].

Hello Beauties. This months Pinky Promise study has been to be Free From People Bondage. See the video below. Upon reflection I decided to share my thoughts on this in the hope that you will be encouraged. It is so easy to say that, “I don’t care what people think”. But when you truly live it, it becomes a different story. A beautifully unbothered one, that just involves you caring rather about what God thinks about you, than worrying yourself on what individuals think about you.

I give myself as an example. I spent years convincing people to like me as a teenager. I guess that is the point in which one strives to find individuals to relate to. In my 20s, I slowly began to realise that people are temporary but God’s love is eternal. I had many one-way friendships that I let go. I promised myself that I will not be a slave to people’s thoughts of me again. Of course I have had ups and downs in that area since then. But the underlying point is that I now know the truth and know how to live it. If you think about it – people will ALWAYS have something to say about you WHATEVER you do. So I don’t know about you, but to me it makes sense to focus on what God thinks about me and build my life around that.

I trust my God. I know that He will provide the right people around me that will love me for who I am. It is very important that you anchor your life in God only. We are imperfect. We will always let each other down one way or another. Be ready for such disappointments. But God is not like that. He will not change His mind, ignore us, break up with us or lose interest in us. He LOVES us all. Begin to realise this. You will, with faith.

How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them!
[Psalm 139:17].

“For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” [Jeremiah 29:11].

In my personal life, it will soon be 2 months since I started my job as a Probation Officer. In my office there are individuals from different walks of life. Some people love Jesus and some do not. I cannot change that. I plant my seed and keep it moving. A long time ago God showed me that I cannot change people, only He can. BUT that will not stop me from planting the seed. I do this by talking about my faith with no shame when I am asked or simply just praying for people. I can see from some people’s facial expressions that they think I am crazy. But do I care? No. Simply because I know that I am serving an almighty God that is bigger than all of us.

So to all reading, whoever you are, God loves you. Focus on His word and what He wants of you. Do not live your life to please people. Believe me, it is not worth it. When people feel bored of you, they can walk away at any point. Do not get to a point where you cannot live without anyone. One way or another, one thing that is guaranteed in this life is death. Be anchored in God so much so, that He will give you the strength to get by upon losing someone to death in life.

Below are some helpful videos that I have been enjoying this month. Be blessed in Jesus name.
