We All Get Tempted, Do Not Give Up Hope

by - Wednesday, December 10, 2014

So you are now saved and have cast out the demons that caused you to be a slave to sin. You have given up everything in your unsaved life, boyfriends or randoms, the club scene, fornication, alcohol/drugs, pornography – whatever was your stronghold. Now what? You may feel withdrawal symptoms from it all, you may feel lonely unloved and friendless. But the good news is that Jesus loves us oh so very much, more than you can ever begin to fathom.

You see, He died on the cross for little old us. Went through ridicule, heaps of insults and beatings so that we might be saved. So once you realise the weight of the sacrifice that He gave up for us, your heart becomes full of love for Him.

Every time I spend time with The Most High Jesus Christ, my heart becomes fuller and fuller everyday. I realise that I have no space for anything else. Because even when I am tempted to do things that I may have done in my unsaved ways, I come to the conclusion that if I had to pick, I would rather die than go back to old ways. It becomes easy to serve God when you truly love Him.

But for real though, the devil is real. Every insecurity is used against you by the devil, who is on the side lines waiting for anyone to slip up. Us Christians are a particular threat to him, we must be careful. We are all human and have our personal insecurities and areas that we need to work on. I have been meditating on 1 Corinthians 10:13 and I need for this and many other scriptures to be tattooed on my heart:

No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it [1Corinthians 10:13 NIV].

There is no excuse when it comes to serving God and hating sin, He has given us all tools to be able to discern what is wrong and right:

This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not God's child, nor is anyone who does not love their brother and sister [1 John 3:10].

We must learn how to flee from sin and stay away from temptation. Losing friends along the way should not mean a thing if one is serious about being a real Christian. Not loving the world is a great start. Understanding that possession and things of the world are all temporary and unimportant in comparison to our Lord and Saviour is something that helps the journey run smoother [1 John 2: 15-17].

It is extremely important for us as disciples to spend time with Jesus DAILY and to read the Bible DAILY. We manage to make time for other things so let us make time for our number one. In this time we can feel wrecked/convicted on all our shortcomings and find a way to make it right. Repent, repent, repent. Allow God to soften your heart and to speak to you and guide you. TRUST AND HAVE FAITH! God has kept you all this time and He will never fail you now. So you feel angry or hurt? Do not let people have control over your emotions. Who cares what they say about you? Once you know yourself in Christ everyone else’s opinion becomes trivial. Understand that everything is temporary and when you are really fixated on the Lord and His truth, you will notice a sense of maturity – the things that used to bother you no longer bother you anymore.

Furthermore, referring to my personal relationship with Jesus. I really boldly and unashamedly love my Jesus. And even though the struggle is real in terms of fighting my flesh and dying to self, it is worth it. I will FIGHT for my Jesus because believe me it is a battle. Being a Christian does not mean that our lives are made and easy. Jesus warns us that we will be hated because of Him.

All men will hate you because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved [Matthew 10:22].

The whole point of this post is to remind you that consistency is key when it comes to serving Jesus. DO NOT GIVE UP. Be intentional and give your whole heart to Him, because if you are a lukewarm Christian, you will not make it through to eternal life: So, because you are lukewarm--neither hot nor cold--I am about to spit you out of my mouth [Revelations 3:16].

Be sure to pray to God for understanding when it comes to reading the Bible. It may not make sense to one that is not spiritually discerned or just reading it to criticise, therefore:

The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit [1 Corinthians 2:14].

I love you all reading because you are all creations from the Most High Jesus Christ, which easily makes you simply beautiful, Be blessed in Jesus name <3
